Hello , and welcome to the PKQA Services website .
My name is Pat Kilbane and I am the former UKAS Head of Laboratory and Head of Calibration Services for one of the United Kingdoms leading metrology equipment manufacturers . For that particular laboratory , I managed a team of 8 metrologists , and a turnover in excess of £½ million per year . I am also a Chartered Quality Engineer , and a fully trained ISO 17025 auditor .
Quality Management and ISO 17025 Auditing Services
Now semi-retired , I am offering my services for the formulation and writing of your operating procedures , quality manual , calibration Instructions , and uncertainty budgets/calculations . 
I can also undertake your ISO 17025 internal auding requirements . A full audit of a UKAS laboratory involves 16 or so individual audits of separate elements of the Quality Management System . I could undertake 5 to 8 audits of those elements during a full days visit . This would effectively complete your full annual audit requirements within 2 or 3 visits . Pre-audit preparation and post-audit reporting would be office based .

Are you a small company with limited staff or resources ?

A number of businesses have , allowing them to release their permanent staff to other or more profitable tasks . The majority of this work is office based such that disruption of your day-to-day business is kept to an absolute minimum .

Metrology Training and Consultancy
On a more practical footing , I can offer consultancy and training services for roundness , surface finish , and angle metrology , having spent the majority of my working life involved both pratically and theoretically in their phylosophies .
I bring with me over 40 years of practical , commercial , and managerial experience in Inspection , Testing , Quality Assurance , Metrology , Calibration , and Laboratory Management .
On-site Measurement of Surface Finish and Floor Slip Resistance
Availabe from mid 2011 is an on-site service for the measurement of the surface finish parameters of engineered components and surfaces using a portable hand-held analyser .
Surface roughness measurement is now also used to analyse the floor slip resistance in food manufacturing and processing industries . This ensures their compliance with the Health and Safety Exectutive (HSE) issued document 'Slips and Trips' .
In all cases , the ambient temperature and relative humidity would be monitored for the duration of the measurements . On completion , a fully documented test report would be issued , offering measurement traceability to National and International standards via the use of a UKAS certified calibration standard for the analyser .
Fees Structure
My fees are a competitive hourly , half-day , or daily rate , plus £0.45 per mile for the round trip from the Leicester area when site visits are required . I do not charge for my time spent in transit .
I am also available at relatively short notice , and have the support and the recommendation of UKAS themselves in this venture .
